Events Description

Taking place over three days, the advanced course focusses on repertoire, technique and yoga for pianists and is ideal for pianists of Grade 8 and above who are preparing for concerts, competitions, diplomas or auditions or for anyone experiencing technical problems, physical tension, injuries or nerves.

The course is run as a series of informal masterclasses with plenty of opportunities for discussion and exchange of ideas, and ends with a concert on the Sunday afternoon.

Penelope Roskell is equally renowned as a performer of international calibre and as an inspirational teacher and professor of piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Tickets/registration information

Fee: £195 (ISM and EPTA members £185). Full-time music students £120.  

Limited to nine students per course for maximum participation – occasionally, a scholarship can be offered to an outstanding student.

Philip Fowke

Known for his many BBC Promenade Concert appearances, numerous recordings and broad range of repertoire, Philip Fowke has appeared in many of the major concert halls worldwide with leading conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Simon Rattle and Gennadi Rozhdestvensky. Philip Fowke is currently Senior Fellow of Keyboard at Trinity College of Music and is recognised for his teaching, coaching and tutoring in which he enjoys exploring students' potential, encouraging them to develop their own individuality. Unconventional and alternative, he avoids methods and systems, preferring a more holistic, imaginative approach. He is a regular tutor at the Chetham's International Summer School and was on the jury of the 2nd International Shura Cherkassky Piano Competition, held in Milan in 2012.
